Overview

We would like to be able to model statements of gender identity in OMRSE.  In particular, we would like to be able to answer the following questions:

1. Who are all of the patients who are identified as male?
2. Who are all of the patients who are identified as female?
3. Who are all of the patients who's gender is unknown?
4. Who identified the patient's gender or determined that it is unknown?  The patient? Intake personnel? A health care provider?

Attached Here is a .owl file that contains a proposal for modeling gender identity in a way that handle these questions in DL queries.

The proposed terms in the owl file have iri's with a suffix of the form MOCK_########.  If we choose to create these terms in OMRSE, new and appropriate identifiers will be assigned.

Competency Questions

1. Retrieve all of the individuals identified as female.
